The Diplomatic Academy and the School of Law of the University of Nicosia open the first annual “MFA Internships Call” for an internship programme at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus.
Programme Details
This year’s internship programme is specifically for the Security Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Subject areas to be covered during the internship include:
- Legal aspects of anti-terrorism policies;
- Cybersecurity (including legal practices) and hybrid threats;
- International organisations and institutions (e.g. the United Nations, the OSCE, etc.);
- General security issues and matters of national security for the Republic of Cyprus.
Deadline, Duration and Expectations
- Deadline for expression of interest: 23rd December, 2019.
- The internship will last for a full year (12 months) starting January 1st, 2020.
- This is a fully flexible internship. Candidates are expected to visit the Ministry only a few times per month or as requested by the MFA supervisors. This is NOT an internship that will be at the expense of your courses or your overall academic workload. Most work will be done remotely.
- This is NOT a paid internship. No compensation scheme or financial support is provided.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be fully registered students at the School of Law (Department of Law and Department of Politics and Governance);
- Fluent in English (required); knowledge of the Greek language is preferred. Any other regional language is a great plus.

A two-page (max) CV and a cover letter by 20th December 2019. The cover letter should include:
- Reasons for applying;
- Any relevant experience and academic background;
- Availability during the week, starting January 2020;
- Area of interest (see above);
